Gran Alacant Shopping & Dining

Gran Alacant is the urban centre closest to Vista del Sol — a well-organised commercial area just 5 to 10 minutes by car that provides everything a self-catering guest could need, along with a genuinely pleasant selection of restaurants and cafés for evenings out without a long drive.

For everyday shopping, the Mercadona supermarket on the main road is large, well-stocked and competitively priced — ideal for stocking the apartment kitchen with fresh produce, local wines, charcuterie and the full range of Spanish staples. A Consum supermarket offers a complementary selection. A small local market operates on Friday mornings in the town centre, selling fresh fruit and vegetables, olives, nuts, dried herbs and general goods — worth a visit for the produce and the atmosphere.

For a larger shopping experience, the Parque Comercial Vega complex in nearby El Altet (about 15 minutes by car) includes Zara, H&M, Decathlon, a large Carrefour hypermarket and a multiplex cinema — everything you would expect from a modern out-of-town retail park, Spanish-style.

Dining options in Gran Alacant range from very good to excellent. A cluster of tapas bars and restaurants around the central square and the main commercial strip offers everything from pizza and burgers to traditional Spanish asadores and fresh-fish restaurants. Prices are consistently lower than the seafront tourist restaurants, and the quality is generally higher. The local bar terraces are particularly pleasant on warm evenings.
