Orihuela Costa Beach Strip

The Orihuela Costa is a 25-kilometre ribbon of coastline stretching south from Guardamar del Segura towards the Mar Menor, encompassing some of the finest and most varied beach scenery on the entire Costa Blanca. From Vista del Sol it is approximately 35 to 40 minutes by car — far enough to make it a deliberate half-day or full-day trip, and well worth the journey for those who want to explore beyond the immediate area.

The coastline is characterised by an alternating sequence of wide sandy bays and rocky headlands, giving it a variety that the longer, more uniform stretches of beach further north lack. Each section has its own character and facilities.

Playa de la Zenia is one of the longest beaches on the strip — a broad, gently shelving sandy bay with full facilities, several beach bars and a well-established promenade with cafés and restaurants. It is popular with both Spanish and international visitors but manages to retain a relaxed atmosphere.

Cabo Roig is the most dramatic point on the Orihuela Costa — a rocky headland with cliffs dropping to small rocky coves and a tiny marina below. The clifftop restaurants here are renowned for their fish and rice dishes, and the views south along the coast are spectacular. A short coastal path from the headland connects several small beaches and lookout points.

Playa de Campoamor, at the southern end of the strip, is one of the most family-friendly beaches in the province — gentle, shallow water, extensive sand, excellent facilities and a small marina with sailing and water sports.

The senda litoral — the coastal walking path — connects many of the beaches along the Orihuela Costa, making it possible to walk several kilometres of clifftop and beach path with the sea always in view.
