Staying at Arenales del Sol puts you within easy reach of some of the finest beaches on the Costa Blanca. Whether you want a wild natural beach, a sheltered family cove, or a lively resort strip with beach bars and watersports, you’ll find it within a short drive or walk. Here is our guide to the best beaches near Vista del Sol.
Playa de Carabassi — Your Local Beach
Just 400 metres from Vista del Sol, Carabassi is an 8km stretch of fine golden sand that forms part of the Sierra de Santa Pola Natural Park. It is divided into sections: the northern end nearest Arenales del Sol is well serviced with chiringuitos (beach bars), sunbed hire, and lifeguards. The middle sections become progressively wilder and more natural. The southern end, near the El Pinet lagoon, is a protected nature area with rare dune flora and birdlife.
The sea here is shallow and calm, with crystal-clear water that makes it perfect for families with young children. The long flat beach is also excellent for long morning walks or an evening paseo as the sun sets over the salt lakes behind.
Playa El Altet
About 4 kilometres north of Arenales del Sol, El Altet is a slightly more compact beach that sits in the shadow of Alicante airport — you can watch planes coming in low as you swim. Despite its proximity to the airport, the beach itself is beautiful: wide, sandy, and backed by a promenade lined with palms and restaurants. It’s popular with local families and tends to be slightly less touristy than the main city beaches.
Playa de Santa Pola
Santa Pola, a proper fishing town 10 minutes south by car, has several excellent beaches. The main beach, Playa de Levante, stretches along the town’s seafront promenade. It’s a classic Spanish beach resort with chiringuitos, watersports hire, and plenty of life. After swimming, the town’s covered market sells the fresh fish and shellfish that supply the excellent seafood restaurants along the front.
Santa Pola also has a lovely smaller beach, Playa de Tamarit, tucked around the headland near the old castle — quieter and more sheltered from the prevailing winds.
Playa del Postiguet, Alicante City
If you want an urban beach experience, the Postiguet is Alicante’s city beach, right below the Santa Barbara Castle. It’s narrow and gets busy, but the setting — with the castle looming overhead and the Esplanade de España nearby — is iconic. Great for combining a beach morning with an afternoon exploring the old town, the MARQ archaeological museum, or the excellent Mercado Central.
Cala del Charco, Gran Alacant
For something more secluded, this small rocky cove just a few kilometres from Vista del Sol offers beautiful clear water ideal for snorkelling. There are no facilities, so bring everything you need — but the reward is uncrowded swimming in genuinely pristine water.
Whichever beach calls to you, staying at Vista del Sol puts you at the heart of this magnificent stretch of coastline.
